Each year, OdySea Aquarium selects an animal to represent its annual 5K Run, creating an opportunity to connect the event with the aquarium's conservation mission. For this year's race, Trout was selected. The design needed to highlight two significant elements of the species' story: Trout's connection to Arizona as the state's official fish and its recent removal from the endangered species list in 2024.
I designed the race medal to bring these elements together through a distinctly Arizona-inspired design. The state's outline became the primary shape of the medal, while the starburst motif from the Arizona flag was incorporated into the design to reinforce its connection to the state. Trout was featured as the focal point, celebrating both the species and its conservation milestone. I also created supporting social media assets to promote the event and carry the visual concept across digital platforms leading up to race day.
